The quality of our products.
Providing crisp, refreshing, great-tasting water is a complex process. Here's how we make Sierra Springs® bottled water taste so good.
Not just any water makes it into our bottles. Each and every drop of Sierra Springs water has to exceed many federal, state, industry and company standards. Our water tastes so crisp and refreshing because we go through multiple processing steps that are monitored closely at our manufacturing facilities for each type of Sierra Springs bottled water to ensure every container meets or exceeds our quality standards. Specifically, federal, state and industry bottled water quality standards establish limits for microbiological, physical, chemical and radiological substances for both source water and bottled water products. Federal testing frequencies for these parameters are included in the Food and Drug Administration Good Manufacturing Practices (“GMP”) for bottled water. Adherence to state, federal and industry bottled water quality standards ensures that every bottle we deliver to your home or office, will be safe to drink, and have a consistently great taste. The result is bottled water that has a crisp and refreshing taste every time you fill your glass.
In addition to existing stringent regulatory standards, the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) maintains a strict Model Code of quality for its members. DS Waters, the parent company of the Sierra Springs brand bottled water, is a member of IBWA and meets or exceeds the quality requirements of the IBWA Model Code. Additionally, we take pride in the fact that Sierra Springs bottled water production plants are annually inspected, on an unannounced basis, by independent third-party organizations. These unannounced annual plant inspections coupled with annual product testing, ensure that the Sierra Springs bottled water complies with federal and state bottled water regulations and IBWA’s Model Code. For more information about IBWA and the IBWA Model Code, please visit their web site at http://www.bottledwater.org or call IBWA at 1-800-Water-11
Sierra Springs® bottled water is sealed in tamper-evident, recyclable polycarbonate plastic containers and meets or exceeds applicable bottled water standards for quality and safety. As an added quality measure, we test regularly and use certified laboratories to perform extensive tests on our water sources to verify that they are of extremely high quality. Plus, we adhere to HACCP, a Food Safety Management process modeled after the one invented for NASA. This process is designed for prevention rather than relying solely on inspecting finished products. At regular intervals throughout the day, our water products are tested by our Quality Assurance Specialists for a minimum of 9 parameters including: ozone, PH, conductivity, taste, odor, appearance, bottle codes, proper caps and volume. Finally, depending on the product, even more parameters are checked to ensure you are receiving the best tasting, freshest Sierra Springs bottled water available.

Types of Drinking Water We Offer:
Sierra Springs® offers the following types of drinking water products for home and office delivery in recyclable, economical household, business or single-serve sized bottles: Purified Water, Spring Water, Purified Water with added Fluoride*, and Distilled Water.
Processing Steps of Purified Water with Minerals Added for Taste
The source water is filtered to remove impurities. The water is taken through additional filtration and reverse osmosis to remove organic and inorganic components of the source water. A mineral injection system adds trace amounts of select food-grade minerals to enhance the taste. Ultraviolet light and ozone are used as additional safety steps.
Processing Steps for Natural Spring Water
Water from carefully selected springs is filtered (one-micron) and treated with ultraviolet light and ozone as disinfection methods. The naturally occurring minerals are not removed during the processing of our Sierra Springs source waters. This provides you with a refreshing natural mineral taste, glass after glass.
Processing Steps of Purified Water with Fluoride* added
The source water is filtered to remove impurities. The water is taken through additional filtration and reverse osmosis to remove organic and inorganic components of the water itself. Fluoride is added. A mineral injection system adds trace amounts of select food-grade minerals to enhance the taste. Ultraviolet light and ozone are used as additional safety steps.
Processing Steps for Distilled Water
The source water is filtered to remove impurities and then taken through a water softener system that removes minerals. The water is then steam distilled where it is heated until steam is formed. The steam is condensed, removing minerals and other dissolved solids. At this point the distilled water is filtered and select trace amounts of food-grade minerals (sodium bicarbonate, calcium chloride and magnesium chloride) are added. Ultraviolet light and ozone are used as additional safety steps.
As you can see, Sierra Springs water’s journey from the source to your bottle is carefully controlled to ensure the highest quality bottled water available.
